Red Sea View from Hyatt, Sharm

Diving Holidays - The Red Sea

Diving in the Red Sea is an unforgettable experience, the Telegraph rate it as the 3rd best diving location in the world and it's reachable in around 5 hours. With year round sunshine and some of the worlds most incredible reefs and wrecks, it's got to be seen to be believed.

The Red Sea is suitable for all levels of diver and tastes, you can experience large schools of tropical fish, drift dives, drop offs, palegics, colourful coral gardens, wrecks and swim throughs.

With a large variety of accommodation and liveabards to choose from, frequent flights from around the UK and excellent value for money, Egypt is considered to be the diving capital of the diving world.

We offer several Egyptian destinations:

Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran are the dive sites that made Sharm famous.
Ras Mohammed encompasses some spectacular diving including 1 of the top 10 dive sites in the world; Shark Reef and the Yolanda wreck. The Yolanda is a cargo ship that sank in less than 18 metres and you can still see it's cargo of toilets and baths today. Ras Mohammed is rich in nutrients which attracts some of the larger marine life including groupers, barracuda, batfish, napoleon wrasse, crocodile fish and the occasional ray and shark.
The Straits of Tiran offers divers a choice of dive sites including Gordon Reef, Jackson Reef, Laguna Reef, Tomas Reef, Woodhouse Reef and Zingara. All these dive sites offer divers top quality diving with some reaching maximum depths of up to 100 metres. If weather permits there is also the chance to see Hammerhead Sharks.

Dahab is much more laid back than Sharm and has two of our favourite dive sites; the legendary Canyon and the Blue Hole. The topography is what makes these dive sites stand out, the light reflecting through the roof of the Canyon causing a rainbow of colours is one that is not to be missed!
Most of the diving in Dahab is from shore making a good option for new divers. The sites are accessed by a short ride along shore by jeep, camel or pick-up truck and all you have to do is gear up at the beach and start your dive.

Hurghada

Diving from Hurghada will give you the opportunity to witness amazing fringing reefs, reef walls, drop offs and experience some of the Red Sea’s best wreck diving. The Salem Express to the south of Safaga is worth a visit. The wreck sunk in 1991 after hitting the reef at night and over 600 victims perished making it one of the greatest marine tragedies of all time.
From Hurghada you can access the spectacular marine park surrounding the Giftun Islands and Abu Ramada by boat. The stunning and beautiful coloured corals and the huge variety of fish including barracuda, grouper, stingrays and triggerfish will keep you entertained during dives.

Marsa Alam

Diving in Marsa Alam is plentiful with impressive reefs home to hard and soft corals in pristine condition and with the most famous reefs in Marsa Alam just a short boat ride from shore.
In Marsa Alam guests have the flexibility to combine shore and boat diving. The coastal reefs are dazzling with impressive hard and soft corals, beautiful topography and a variety of colourful fish. Boat diving will take you to the dramatic walls and drop-offs of Elphinstone Reef where you get really close to sea turtles, anthias and an impressive variety of sharks including hammerheads, grey reef sharks and white-tip sharks. There is also the chance to swim with Dugongs and Dolphins here.

Liveaboards

To get the most out of diving in the Red Sea you should experience it by liveaboard. Liveaboard diving gives you the opportunity to visit and explore remote off shore reefs and dive sites not usually accessible from day boat diving. You can wake up for your morning dive a few feet from the dive site, in between dives you can relax in a sun lounger or Jacuzzi. Some itineries make it possible to do as many as four dives per day. Specialist itineraries have been designed around particular interests with shark and wreck diving increasingly popular with divers.

These days Liveaboard’s offer a luxurious experience with superior levels of service and fantastic food.
